FS98 Scenery of the SCHIPHOL Int´l Airport of Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Version 1.0) ============================================================== 05.1999 by Stefan Breuer This Zip-Archive was originally uploaded only to www.flightsim.com. This very dense scenery features the international Airport of Amsterdam called SCHIPHOL (AMS) - Code EHAM. The true elevation for AMS is minus 11m-14m, however it has to be simulated as 0 m. First of all I have to say thank you to Egbert Drenth from the Netherlands for his initial idea and the photo support. Just one other word: While I was working on this scenery for the last weeks, Schiphol was published as a download-ware Add-On on the web. I like to point out that it is not my intention to jeopardize someone´s business. The scenery automatically reacts on seasonal changes with ground textures for spring, summer, autumn and winter. During night time you will see - in additon to the normal building and terminal lights - full lightning on the apron and ramp areas. The scenery features 56 Jetway-Positions from Pier B-G, Schiphol East Area with the GAT and also the freight areas. All Navaids for AMS are also included. PLEASE READ: This scenery works with or without Europa 1 Add-on. If you are using other scenery add-ons in parallel with this AMSEHAM1.ZIP and you encounter some visibility problems ("Schlieren") you have to reduce the memory used. To do so, the easiest way is to reduce the number of active BGL-Files. To relief display engines memory which causes the visibility problems in case of overload just rename the suffix of AMSPLUS3.BGL (taxi-, runway signs, some Buildings in Schiphol East Area) to prevent FS98 from loading it. THE FRAME RATE PROBLEM: You MUST have a 3dfx card otherwise is truely makes no sense. The Scenery is very complex and will significantly slow down systems Frame Rate. To keep up the rate it a range which is acceptable a lot of items do have a lower visibility range, which simply means that you will only see them from a distance lower than approx. 200 m. Especially on final appoach to the airport and for takeoff you should activate the ZOOM (+) Option to reduce the view angle. Although FS98 also draws objects which are out of the visible sector you will gain some Frames. What you can also do for final approach is to reduce the complexitiy level. The scenery works with 2 complexity modes: You will see all details already in Default complexity mode which is the NORMAL level. (DENSE or VERY DENSE will not increase the amount of objects). The second level is the SPARSE or VERY SPARSE level (no difference) which will reduce the amouhnt of 3D and also 2D-Objects. You will not see Taxiway lights, buildings in the background etc. INSTALL SCENERY: 1. Create the following new subdirectory in your MAIN-Scenery directory: the Amsterdam directory, name it for example: AMS than place a SCENERY folder into AMS and a TEXTURE folder also into AMS 2. Please copy the scenery *.BGL Files which you will find in the BGL.ZIP file in to the SCENERY folder 2. The content of TEXTURE.ZIP file shall be copied ino the TEXTURE folder. After starting FS98 go to the Scenery library, add the new scenery in the respective subdirectory, choose LOCAL, confirm ACTIVE Button. Then in FS98 menu choose World / Airports (Umwelt/Gehezu/Flughäfen in the german version) activate the check box "scenery from versions 6 ..." and there it is.
