Air Vias Douglas DC-8-62H N8969U ca.1995 for FS98 and FS5 ==================================================================================== Air Vias livery by: Rafael Zimmermann (I'm really a 2 N's Zimmermann :-) Original DC-8 model by: Kim Simmelink/Francesco Zoja HISTORY: (Brief, of Air Vias and its DC-8) In December 1993, the charter airline Air Vias was created in Brazil, to start a flight market never before explored by other airlines. The charter flights were completely new for the Brazilian public, specially to offer new destinations at attractive prices. The planes for this start were 2 Boeing 727-200. Right after, Air Vias decided to add a more proper long range equipement, that would operate into the Caribbean routes, like St. Marteen, Cancun, and Curacao. The selcted airplane was this DC-8-62H former Hawaiian Air, leased directly from IAL Jets Miami. The airplane was delivered in November 1994 to receive the Brazilian registration PP-AIY. Due to a series of technical failures on the aircraft (Instrument panel, Air conditioned system...), Air Vias decided to give it back to the lessors, declaring imposible to operate this plane in this conditions. On the other hand, the airline either assumed the DC-8 to be their best and most ideal airplane for the kind of operation they were doing. Followed by recessive problems, the airline saw itself put on a big amount of difficulties. The last try to get the airline up, was the contract signed with TABA, to operate the 2 remaining 727's on the weekdays by regular TABA routes, and on the weekends, the 727's would return to Air Vias on charter operation. All didn't work, and the airline ceased operations. Later, more airlines came on this same segment, (Skyjet, FLY, Viabrasil, Transair...) some are now defunct, but others seem to be right up. That was not the case of Air Vias, an airline that had its glorious days, which now is defunct... :-( NOTES: This file has copyrighted design and repaint, it CAN'T BE SOLD! You're able to distribute it freely EVERYWHERE as long as you DON'T CHARGE FOR IT!!!! I'll not allow the use of my repaint textures through any texture converter program or other program without my written authorization. ** I noticed some people using my textures without my authorization to their repaints. Please, if you are one of those people, don't do that again. It's very sad to see people don't respect copyrights. We're already providing a FREEWARE supply with repaints, ect. The LEAST we hope from you is a litlle of respect, at least in our privacy. I'm sorry if maybe YOU, don't have nothing to do with that, but I wouldn't like to mention the name of the person who's done this wrong thing. I always try to be right, to be correct in my life, why some people can't be? And I'd like to set one more litlle thing clear: I never allowed the use of my textures, altought there couldn't be anything written in my previous projects, it was NEVER allowed to use my repaints (it means COPYRIGHT). Due to this, I'm deeply sorry about saying these things for those ones who really don't have nothing to do with that, and I just ask the comprehension of those people, who, I consider that violated the universal rules of the FS community. Thank you for your attention, and excuse-me for my words... but sometimes we really need to give an alert. :-( ** JPG photo of the real plane included, taken at GIG in 1995.
