General Air Yakovlev Yak-40 for FS98 by Matthias Lieberecht Lieberecht@cw-net.de Thank you for download this aircraft. Andrea Cini designed this wonderful Yak-40 aircraft which I've used for the repaint. His Aircraft is equipped with Moving Parts for Gear, Flaps and Spoilers. I've made some minor changes to the Flight dynamics to support the STOL capacity of the real Yak-40, a realistic airspeed and a horizontal flight situation (AOA is almost zero). Also new are the lightened windows at night. About the Yak-40 The Yak-40 was first flown in 1966. The aircraft should replace the IL-12 and IL-14 and it was the first civil aircraft made by Yakovlev for short distances. Like other Russian aircraft the Yak-40 is very robust and the landing gears are designed also for impracticable or rough grounds. Especially for such grounds the Yak-40 has very good STOL capacities. The aircraft can operate from 700 m. (2100 ft.) runways and comes out with a much shorter runway for emergency landings. More than 1000 Yak-40 were built. Aeroflot operated nearly 800 and 100 Yak's were exported. There are 900 Yak-40 actually flying and for some smaller airlines this aircraft is the first they start with. About General Air General Air was a German commuter Airline which operates to the Islands in the Northsea and some other German routes. They used several Yak-40's, Do 28, Piper Pa-23, Commander 680 and DHC-6 which mainly was used for the Helgoland Island of course of it's STOL capacity. For further Informations read the enclosed General Air textfile (German language only) which was written by Karl-Georg Genth, a former General Air Pilot. Some technical details Length: 20.36 m.
