Date: Tue, 15 Jun 1993 10:04:06 -0400 (EDT) From: TGAUSLIN@ISDRES.ER.USGS.GOV To: wais-talk@Think.COM Subject: WinWAIS 2.1 I've received from mail indicating that some folks didn't pick up the first message about WinWAIS 2.1 availability. Follow-ups didn't include the particulars, so I'll repeat the basics here: WinWAIS 2.1 includes support for both public domain tcp via Waterloo TCP and Clarkson drivers, as well as Windows Socket (winsock.dll) support. The winsock has only been tested with a couple of implementations, so I'd appreciate very much hearing about any problems encountered. Support for multiple document types is also included, as well as a few fixes to bugs encountered in 2.0. Full source code is available: >ftp ridgisd.er.usgs.gov (130.11.48.107) >user anonymous >pswd anything >cd software/wais >type binary >get wnwais21.zip (for executables only) or >get wnwsrc21.zip (for source and executables) wnwais21 should be unzipped into an intermediate direcctory or to a floppy disk.Installation is then completed by running setup from within windows: c:\tempwais\setup wnwsrc21 should be unzipped using the -d option to create several subdirectories. Subdirectory names and contents are described in the file named readme.txt. Enjoy!! Tim Gauslin US Geological Survey
