Statement of Ole Jaocbsen
     
I have been active in the computer networking field since 1976 when I 
went to work for the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, an 
early ARPANET site.  I have been with Interop Company since shortly 
after its formation in 1987, acting as Editor and Publisher of 
ConneXions---The Interoperability Report, a monthly technical journal 
in the field of computer-communications, published by Interop 
Company. I am also the Senior Technical Director for Interop, working 
on conference program development for the various Interop events
around the world. I also serve on the program committees for the Joint 
European Networking Conference (JENC) and the Asia Pacific Regional 
Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT).
     
I hold a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computing Science from 
the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
     
I believe the ISOC's mission should be to serve as wide an audience 
as possible, and I support the idea of a new membership drive. I 
would like to see ISOC become the natural place of contact for all 
those seeking information about the Internet. I have served on the 
Advisory Board for 3 years and have a good understanding of its 
workings.
